Tourist attractions in the Salzburg region!
Exciting and interesting!
Go on a journey of discovery on your summer holiday in Saalbach-Hinterglemm! We have compiled a few sights and attractions in the region below. Those who want to get to know our beautiful Salzburg region better can take a look at our info folder at the reception. And our hostess Maria is also happy to give insider tips on tourist attractions worth visiting!
Caves & gorges
Both the 30-km-long Sigmund-Thun-Klamm gorge in Kaprun and Kitzlochklamm gorge in Taxenbach (37 km) or the “Saalachtal Natural Wonders” (= the Vorderkaserklamm gorge, the Lamprechtshöhle cave, the Seisenbergklamm gorge) in the Lofer region (38 km) promise hours of excitement for both big and small adventurers and speleologists alike.
Krimml waterfalls
The Krimml waterfalls are definitely worth a visit; with a drop height of 380 m, they are one of Europe’s largest waterfalls. A hike along the 4-km-long waterfall path takes you very close to this impressive natural wonder.
Kaprun mountain reservoirs
This wondrous world of technology invites you to gaze in wonder! Europe’s largest open lift, the Lärchwand inclined lift, takes you to the mountain reservoirs at a height of over 2,000 metres. A tour of the dam walls is also very interesting.
Grossglockner High Alpine Road
The 48 km-long mountain pass is probably the most famous of all the Alpine roads and leads to Austria’s highest mountain, the Grossglockner, via 36 hairpin bends. An impressive highlight on the journey to the top is the diverse natural landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park.
Wildlife & Adventure Park Ferleiten
A visit to the Wildlife & Adventure Park Ferleiten can also be combined with the trip on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. Over 200 animals indigenous to the Alps can be observed there. Walking time through the park is approx. 1 hour.
